Why convert HEIC to WebP?

WebP is a practical output for website images when your publishing platform accepts it. It supports transparency and adjustable compression. The resulting size depends on image detail, quality and dimensions; WebP is not guaranteed to be smaller than your HEIC original. For email attachments or systems that require JPEG, choose HEIC to JPG. For lossless compression of rendered pixels, use HEIC to PNG.

How to prepare WebP images

1. Select HEIC or HEIF files from your device.
2. Keep WebP selected. Start at 90% quality and choose a maximum edge if you need smaller images.
3. Leave metadata off for a simple sharing copy, or enable Keep metadata. GPS location has a separate opt-in.
4. Convert and review your images, then download individual WebP files or a ZIP.

Is this lossless WebP conversion?

No. This tool uses the browser’s quality-controlled WebP encoder. Even 100% should not be treated as an archival, lossless copy. Compare the result with your original, especially for fine text, detailed textures and HDR colours. If you need lossless encoding of rendered pixels, select PNG instead.

Can WebP preserve transparent areas?

Yes, supported transparency from the decoded image is retained. JPG instead fills transparent areas with white. WebP export requires a browser with a working WebP canvas encoder. If yours cannot produce WebP, the converter reports the issue rather than giving you a different format with a .webp filename.

What happens to EXIF and GPS?

Both metadata options start off. Keep metadata transfers supported capture dates, camera and lens make/model, and exposure settings. Include GPS location separately permits supported coordinates and associated GPS fields. Unsupported or damaged metadata is omitted and reported next to the result. WebP metadata visibility varies between viewers; the original HEIC remains your complete source.

Batch limits and privacy

You can select 30 files, with a 25 MB per-file and 150 MB total input limit. Each image must be at most 40 megapixels. Outputs share a 150 MB limit. Files are processed one at a time on your device; no photo or EXIF data is uploaded. Live Photo clips, depth maps and animation are not exported.
